Crime and the City Solution on PledgeMusic
Friday, May 11, 2012 - 18:57

After a twenty year hiatus, the wandering minstrels of mayhem, Crime and the City Solution are back with their unique brand of controlled chaos and a new home city: Detroit. Original members Bronwyn Adams, Simon Bonney, and Alexander Hacke, are joined by new confreres Jim White (drums), David Eugene Edwards (guitar), Danielle de Picciotto (visuals), Matthew Smith (keyboards) and Troy Gregory (bass).

Crime are finishing the recordings for their new album and will now start preparing their live show for the fall of 2012 and 2013. This show will be a unique experience and a complete rendering of the band’s creative vision.

To bring you this show in its full sensory splendor, they need to raise funds so that this new and possibly one-time-only way of experiencing Crime and the City Solution is possible. They have put together a pledge project offering an impressive array of gift and unique Crime memorabilia, artworks and more. As an extra special offer the first 50 pledgers will be named in the credits of the 35mm surrealist film titled ‘Sadness’ (directed by Simon Bonney and featuring music by the Detroit Crime) which they are offering as a download.

Dear friends, please contribute to this new adventure so that we can share the Crime and the City Solution experience fully with you all.

Invisibility is the state of an object that cannot be seen.
Danielle de Picciotto examines this state and status from the point of objects invisible to our society, mainly because of bias and prejudice.
She examines the advantages of being invisible and the beauty hidden within invisibility.
In our world, which has become loud and as visible as possible the idea of the hidden, mysterious, unseen is an unusual and interesting one.
Reminiscent of old fairy tale books her intricate ink drawings depict outsiders, loners, the ignored and invisible.
Moving within realms of surrealism and mysticism she presents the invisible interaction of our everyday lives.

"The Glasshouse" is an experimental silent movie in which Danielle recounts her last bizarre night in NYC in 1986 which turned into a nightmarish dinner filled with terror, strengthening her resolution to leave the crime and drug riddled city of the eighties and also serving as a metaphor for the growing fear and paranoia our society is experiencing since 9/11. Her film style is comparable to Luis Bunuel and early David Lynch but adds an unmistakable female touch to the scenes, lightening the alarming story and adding a touch of playful eroticism. Her spoken word is accompanied and highlighted by the spectacular film score by Alexander Hacke.

Experimental underground art is the area in which established dogmas are questioned, it is the matrix for independent future developments. Now that even the Oscars have proven that silent movies are not a lost art, this performance is one not to be missed.
